Heritage Homes - Book Features

Featured Home: Riley Lodge, Calgary AB

As some of you may be aware I am in the process of writing a book on historic interiors of Alberta. As I gather information and take photographs of these houses I will share some of their photographs with you.

This is a wonderful house located in Calgary Alberta. About 20 years ago, the city of Calgary decided to widen one of its major roads, so homes on either side of the road were torn down to make room for this expansion. Finally realizing the significance of its heritage resources, the city offered the house to the people they felt would be true stewards of this property that was once the home of one of Calgary's prominent families. The current owners were chosen and they have spent the last 20 years restoring what was once a derelict building into the home you see today. The interior, true to its late Victorian roots, has been featured in several movies. Here are some pictures of the home. Enjoy!
