A Heritage Home Garden in Calgary, Alberta
Any house or building looks its best when its landscape ties in with its architecture. Nowhere is this more obvious than when looking at heritage home. Here are some photographs of Calgary’s historic Crawford House and its gardens. Although the article will not be published until the fall, I thought you might enjoy getting a sneak peak at some of the photographs of the gardens. After all, ‘tis the garden season.

The front entrance is through a large gate totally hidden from the view of the busy street next to the house. The wall is at least six feet tall. Opening this gate brings you into a garden of pure delight.
The wall is softened through the use of arbors, garden benches and trellises with climbers.

A Beautiful sight - A lovely Chinese inspired bridge over a pond that houses a family of 35 year old Koi.
A Garden bench is flanked by pots of flowers. A gazebo is snuggled in the corner of the yard.

A Beautiful fountain is in perfect scale for the size of the yard and it acts like a focal point for the front yard which is enclosed by walls. This gives the whole garden the feeling of being in an oasis away from the traffic near by.

This garden is filled with delightful paths that lead to secluded little areas throughout the garden. At each turn you discover something new - a new pot filled with flowers, or a statue, a stone or cast iron bench, shady spots, spots for sunning...Truly a place to discover.
