Update on my Book
As many of you know I am in the process of writing a book on "Historic Interiors of Alberta". This book is intended to inspire, and show owners of heritage homes the value of restoring their homes and how to go about it.
This book will also be of interest to you even if you don't own an older home but always wondered what was behind those interesting facades. if you like history and home design, you will find plenty to read about.
I was awarded a grant from the Alberta Historic Resources Foundation to do this research. When it will be published is unknown at this point. However I will keep you abreast of what's happening and do quick features in upcoming newsletters. If you are interested in getting these sign up below under "Free Newsletter".
May 24th, 2011: The book is organized into four periods. The first is 1895 -1905, the second is 1906 - 1919, the third is the 1920's and the final is 1930. Each section is broken into Entrance, Parlour, Dining Room, Bathroom and Bedroom. Each of these sections are broken down even more into: Millwork, Walls, Floors, Colours, Window treatments, Furniture and Fixtures and finally Accessories. So far this section is complete. Now I get to work on the bonus chapters at the end of the book!
