Heritage Garden Series - Gardens

by Johanne Yakula

Any house or building looks its best when its landscape ties in with its architecture. Nowhere is this more obvious than when looking at heritage home. Here are some photographs of Calgary’s historic Crawford House and its gardens. Although the article will not be published until the fall, I thought you might enjoy getting a sneak peak at some of the photographs of the gardens. After all, ‘tis the garden season.

Tall wall is softened by arbors and garden benches

The front entrance is through a large gate totally hidden from the view of the busy street next to the house. The wall is at least six feet tall. Opening this gate brings you into a garden of pure delight.

The wall is softened through the use of arbors, garden benches and trellises with Front Entrance in a yard enclosed by a high wallclimbing plants.
